Xi sent a congratulatory message to the 35th African Union Summit


Beijing, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) –Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to the 35th African Union (AU) Summit on Monday.Xi pointed out that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the African Union.Over the past 20 years, the African Union has held high the banner of seeking strength through unity, actively explored a development path suited to Africa, promoted important achievements in regional integration, coordinated African countries’ solidarity in fighting COVID-19, vigorously safeguarded peace, stability and development in Africa, and boosted Africa’s international influence and standing.Xi stressed that 2021 will be a year of vigorous development of China-Africa relations.At the successful eighth FocAC Ministerial Conference last November, I announced nine projects for cooperation with Africa in the next three years, and supported the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era with African leaders present.Under the new circumstances, China is ready to work with Africa to actively implement the outcomes of the FOCAC, further synergize belt and Road cooperation and the global development Initiative with agenda 2063 of the African Union and the building of the Free Trade Area, elevate China-Africa cooperation to a higher quality and wider range, and write a new chapter in the annals of China-Africa friendship.Source: Xinhua
