The 76ers are unlikely to move Ben Simmons before the deadline


B/R’s Jake Fischer reports that any deadline trade for Ben Simmons seems unlikely.Sixers executives have been insisting on bringing back a player of Harden or Beal’s caliber.The Blazers sent Powell and Covington away, giving rival executives hope lillard will leave this summer.Neither the Hawks nor the Kings have made significant progress in negotiations with the Sixers since the offseason.As the trade deadline nears, the Sixers plan to make small moves to improve the team, including adding ball handlers and rebounders, with Paul Reed and Isaiah Joe among the most submitted trade candidates from opposing front offices.After the trade deadline, convincing Simmons to return will be the focus of the Sixers’ efforts.Sixers executives insist simmons may be willing to return to the team if a trade fails.Many people close to Simmons’ team insist he won’t play for the Sixers again, but those close to simmons will have to convince him to return if a trade doesn’t happen.Tobias Harris has been in talks with the Kings and Hawks, multiple sources said.But the Harris deal could drag on until the summer, when the sixers find a new All-Star partner for Embiid.To create cap space by simply signing Harden or an All-Star, multiple sources have mentioned the 76ers could trade Harris to Oklahoma City.There are currently no relevant discussions.
